About ONE°15 Brooklyn Sail Club

ONE°15 Brooklyn Sail Club is a membership-based sailing organization founded in 2015 to serve the New York Harbor sailing community with high performance, professionally maintained racing and cruising boats.

The Club is an integral part of the ONE°15 Brooklyn Marina project, serving as the gateway to New York Harbor’s waterfront. Coupled with a unique sail programming and a club center for sailing activities, our goal is to assist in revitalizing recreational sailing in New York Harbor.

Our philosophy is centered around programming and improving overall sailing skills, and fostering a culture where members can share their knowledge and experience with others.

What We Offer

Exceptional Fleet

Our fleet is comprised of six Melges 24’s and seven J80’s. These are first rate, modern designed boats sailed around the world by novices and professionals alike. We include spinnakers on our boats as part of the standard equipment. Our fleet is maintained by professionals who love boating and treat each boat as their own.

Assorted Cruising Opportunities

Private Sails

Club members with skipper’s privileges are eligible to sign out Club boats on their own and bring their own guests and Club Members. Just make an online boat reservation, show up, follow the Club’s pre-departure and return protocols and that’s it. This is just like having your own boat without the hassles of ownership.

Fleet Captain Cruising

Crew members looking to crew on boat can go sailing by making an online reservation for a Fleet Captain cruise. You and your fellow Fleet Captain crew-mates will be assigned to an experienced skipper whom you will assist as the boat is taken out. Our Fleet Captains are either our sailing coaches or experienced Club members.

Our Fleet Captains are tasked with getting you out on the water, enjoying a little sailing and building your sailing skills and knowledge base. Have fun, learn a little and laugh a lot on these sails. Cruise NY Harbor in good company.

Daytime Weekday Sailing

The Club organizes an informal group of members who are interested in sailing during the day on weekdays. These sails are a combination of private sails and Fleet Captain cruises depending on the situation.

Bareboat Cruising

Each year, the Club organizes a charter in a warm climate like the Caribbean. These trips are open to Club members and the general public where an experienced captain will guide their crew around the beautiful cruising spots on and off the water. Sail exotic places, meet new friends and have the adventure of a lifetime.

Club Racing

Competitive club racing has been scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Click here for the Notice or Race and Sailing Instructions. We hold a racing debrief at the end of each race day to share insights.

We also organize special racing events and offer racing on Saturday afternoons where you can learn to race or hone your skills in a friendly environment.

New to racing or to Brooklyn? No worries, we’ll help you get on a team or organize a team.

Skipper Certification

Club Members can take out club boats on their own once they have been granted skipper privileges.

At ONE°15 Brooklyn Sail Club, we take the safety of our Club Members very seriously. We have straightforward assessment process unique to New York Harbor’s local conditions, Club boats and protocols.

Our sailing programs are designed to enhance the boating skills and knowledge of all our members.

Qualified members can challenge the Skipper Certification test or take the Club’s Learn-to-Skipper program.

To help Club members obtain their skipper privileges, our sailing programs are designed to enhance their boating skills and knowledge so that all our members may eventually obtain skipper privileges if they desire. Qualified members can then take the ONE15 BSC Learn-to-Skipper program. More experienced sailors can challenge the Skipper Certification test after a few Fleet Captain sails.
