Learn to Sail in New York Harbor – For Teens!

ONE15 Brooklyn Sail Club is thrilled to announce several unique opportunities for teenagers to learn the Fundamentals of Sailing in New York Harbor.

After-School Sailing Programs are officially open for enrollment for the Fall & Spring Terms, and all Summer.

Teens can learn valuable skills which they will use for the rest of their lives – both on and off the water. Here’s an opportunity to learn water safety, basic boating and sailing skills, sportsmanship, teamwork, and self-reliance.

Our Teen Sailing Program gets students out on the water to enjoy the sights and wonders of New York Harbor. Sailing around the bay is one of the best ways you can spend after-school time, or a summer week in Brooklyn, New York!

Our Teen Sailing Program is run out of New York’s newest marina, ONE°15 Brooklyn Marina, located at Pier 5 in Brooklyn Bridge Park.

Here you can step aboard a modern J/80 sailboat with energetic instructors and meet other adventurous students like you. You’ll be outdoors, learning about the waterfront, boating, and sailing around beautiful New York Harbor. By the end of the session, you’ll be able to hoist the sails, trim the sheets, and steer the boat!

All participants will also receive a ONE°15 Brooklyn Sail Club certification. By the end of the session you will have a firm foundation and will be ready to continue to build your skills for a lifetime of fun on the water!

Teen Sailing After School Program

This course is designed for teens (age 13 – 19) who are eager for an introduction to the exciting activity of sailing in a fun, structured environment. At the end of the session graduates will have a complete understanding of all the basics of sailing and how to be effective crew on a small keelboat. Graduates will be ready for the next level of sailing!

Teen Summer Sailing Program

Our Teen Summer Sailing Program will facilitate week-long (Monday to Thursday) opportunities for teenagers to learn the fundamentals of sailing in New York Harbor. This program is exclusively for children of parents who are Full Members of the Sail Club.

Let’s Go Sailing – Level 1 – for beginner sailors on keelboats
Pre-requisite – preference given to students who have attended the Spring or Fall Programs

Let’s Go Sailing – Level 2 – those who have more experience on keelboats and sailing
Prerequisite – Let’s Go Sailing – Level 1
