Skipper Tips: Local Notice to Mariners

Whether you are just coming into New York Harbor or planning a day sail, checking the Local Notice to Mariners can mitigate any surprises such as river closures.

In the United States, notices are issued by each U.S. Coast Guard District to disseminate important information affecting navigational safety within that District. Other countries such as the UK, issue the Admiralty Notice to Mariners.

These notices provide changes to navigational aids, event notifications (East River Closures) and any special waterways notices (i.e.; whale migrations, customs procedures, etc.)

You can subscribe to these notices on their respective websites. For the New York area – We are in District 1.
